Lance is one of Motus’ natural leaders. You can always count on him to be clear, assertive, and to the point… and to have our candidates’ best interests in mind: “When I connect with a candidate, I want them to have a great experience working with me and my company. I also look at things if I were the candidate and how I would want to be treated.”
He has successfully managed two different careers, including a five-year stint in high pressures sales. That experience not only boosted his negotiating skills, it also taught him how to truly listen to people. He’s not one to avoid a challenge, tackling issues head on with creativity and resourcefulness.
Lance takes full responsibility for entire recruitment projects, seeing everything through from inception to completion. Focus areas include custom software solutions, healthcare, finance, energy, government, and lumber and building products. He opts for a collaborative approach: “I always tell candidate when prepping them for an interview ‘Don’t mess up. But if you do swing for the fences. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.’ I think it helps them relax a little and be themselves.”
When he’s not interviewing candidates, you can find Lance and his wife working in the garden, or pickling or canning their homegrown vegetables. He’s a huge Portland Craft beer fan, and you just might spot him sitting outside Burnside Brewing sipping a dark beer and people watching.
