Business Analyst 2 – Safety
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for a Business Analyst for their Vancouver, Washington location. This position will provide business and risk analysis support to the Safety Organization’s internal operations. The role involves coordinating with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and department representatives to analyze the Safety Organization’s business model, ensuring alignment with agency goals and safety initiatives. Responsibilities include reviewing collected data, policies, and programs, assessing incidents, and identifying early hazard indicators to support proactive risk mitigation. The position will also support benchmarking studies to recommend best practices for work planning and ensure the organization achieves its strategic goals.

Pay Range: $47.00 – $51.00/ HR

- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand safety strategies, agency goals, and objectives.
- Analyze data from safety databases, training, incident assessments, and employee feedback to improve safety culture.
- Evaluate safety policies, programs, and standards to support decision-making and reduce risks.
- Advise on safety initiative development for business processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve data collection, tracking, and hazard mitigation.
- Ensure hazards are identified, assessed, and controlled according to standards.
- Support the development of a safety risk management program to prioritize corrective actions and reduce health risks.
- Use a standardized matrix to categorize hazards during inspections, audits, and assessments.
- Analyze corrective actions for effectiveness and resource prioritization.
- Provide findings to guide executive decision-making and manage risk tolerance.
- Drive completion of safety initiatives by sharing data with stakeholders.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and statistics using software like Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Assist with incident and hazard assessments, identifying root causes and tracking recurring hazards.
- Travel for meetings within operational areas as needed, up to a week quarterly.
- Collaborate with departments to meet data analysis requirements.
- Support the compilation and analysis of data for safety program development.
- Maintain filing systems and records per compliance standards, ensuring secure sharing of documents with authorized personnel.
Requirements for Business Analyst:
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in data science, data analytics, business analytics, data modeling, business mathematics, statistics, risk management, risk analysis, safety & occupational health, or a closely related technical discipline is preferred.
- 5 years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor’s degree.
- 7 years of experience is required with an applicable associate degree.
- 9 years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.
- Formal training (college level communications, English, technical writing) or related coursework can qualify as relevant years of experience. Resume must include a detailed list of the specific classes being claimed as “qualifying”.
- Experience should include a combination of work-related experience on-the-job training and/or vocational training and should be consistent with the specific requirements as listed in the tasks above and progressively more technical in nature.
- Proficiency in the use of a business and/or management system and associated database software programs utilized to establish and maintain data analysis and effective technical analytical recordkeeping skills is required.
- Proficiency in the use of Adobe Acrobat Pro and the full Microsoft Office applications for the purposes of creating Access database, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, Visio diagrams, charts, workflows, diagrams, and various miscellaneous materials into a professional published form is required.
