Whether it’s making sure people are getting paid properly or making his coworkers laugh, Alan knows how to make people smile. With 20 years’ experience in accounting from a full charge bookkeeper to a controller, Alan processes and manages the team’s payroll with efficiency, accuracy, and a healthy dose of humor. “People think accounting is boring, but it’s only boring when it’s done right.”
Jokes aside, Alan says it’s more about the people he works with than the work itself that keeps him going. One of the things he says sets Motus apart is how responsive and personable everyone is. “I can do accounting anywhere. I spend as many waking hours with the people I work with as the ones I love, so it’s better to be somewhere you enjoy and can have a little fun.”
Like any good cowboy and Navy veteran, Alan enjoys horses, bowling, shooting a game of pool, drinking a cold beer, and karaoke (ideally all in the same night). When he needs to recharge from accounting, Alan likes going to his cabin in Packwood, Washington where he reads books by his favorite American novelist, Louis L’Amour.
