Community Relations Manager

Our client is a Portland-based non-profit organization who aims on delivering excellent, equitable education to underserved children, their families, and their communities. Their mission is to eliminate prolific racial achievement and opportunity gaps by developing confident, creative, compassionate leaders through their charter school and programs. They are looking to bring on a Community Relations Manager to join their team!

This position requires an extremely perceptive person capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization.  Ensuring that the Family Engagement, Partnership and Policy   is managed with excellence. Nurturing relationships between external partners, community-based partnerships, family, and local and state leaders. The Community Relations Manager must be sensitive to our business needs, employee goodwill and our mission, values, and operational needs. This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for the Family Engagement Liaison, Sr. Partnership Coordinator and Policy staff.

 

Type: Direct-Hire!
Pay: $56,700 - $66,700/yr.
Location: In-Office / Portland, Oregon. Must be local or willing to relocate to apply.

 

Responsibilities of Community Relations Manager:

  • Family Engagement: Ensure a warm, welcoming, and collaborative environment for families.  Oversee all communication for Family Engagements.
  • Manage Student and Family recruitment, community outreach, info Sessions, and intake/Exit for families.
  • Managing the distribution of materials and tickets related TriMet, Moda Center, Blazer, Timbers, Thorns, OMSI, Zoo etc. to families and staff.
  • Ensure internal database is updated with ongoing communications with families, teachers, and partners to enable consistent support for families.
  • Participate in all Family involvement programs and activities.
  • Coordinating and managing grant submissions and reporting.
  • Ensure a warm, welcoming, and collaborative environment for external partners and community-based partnerships
  • Manage implementation of Learning Academy community partnerships programs such as Trillium, OMSI, Community Action Sessions & SUN.
  • Oversee all partnership at learning academy, training academy, early learning network and policy/advocacy.
  • Identify potential partnership for fit with school mission and vision.
  • Maintain relationships and strategic opportunities thru virtual, in-person meetings, thorough documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects relevant to partners onsite.
  • Coordinate and support partners through development and implementation mutual partnership.
  • Oversee all partnership outreach to corporations, nonprofits, businesses, and other organizations onsite or virtual to gain new partnerships and sustainable volunteer groups.
  • Coordinate and manage partnership life cycle.
  • Identification, development, agreement, implementation, and programming.
  • Ensure database is updated with ongoing communications with families, teachers, and partners to enable consistent support for families and staff.
  • Ensure a warm, welcoming, and collaborative environment for local and state leaders.
  • Oversee all policy and advocacy work.
    • Participate in policy agenda at key community and leadership    tables.
    • Ensure the tracking of key legislative bills that impact the school and our work / mission.
    • Build relationships with key partners in policy and advocacy work.
    • Oversee documenting, researching, and preparing presentations and briefing sheets on core policy issues.  
    • Support execution of advocacy agenda through family surveys and interviews.
    • Administer family surveys and assist in the conducting of family interviews.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Attend several staff and family events
  • Participate in continuous improvement practices including observations, reflections, and collaborations

 

Qualifications for Community Relations Manager:

  • BA preferred.  Minimum three years of experience required. (Working in school, nonprofit, or community setting)
  • Proven work experience in Community Relations, Partnership, Policy, or similar role.
  • One-year relevant experience working with families from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds.
  • Prior school or education reform experience preferred.
  • Managerial experience preferred.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity, changing work priorities and deadlines, and a willingness to take on responsibilities and to prioritize work on multiple projects
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Commitment to culturally relevant practices
