Senior Business Analyst

Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for a Business Analyst for their Vancouver, Washington location.  This position will help provide organizational strategy, business process improvements, and business transformation to the Transmission Technology department. You’ll guide stakeholders, as well as gather and analyze information using standard tools and approaches to help clarify business operations. The mission and focus of this group is to keep the telecommunications system running smoothly and securely, so our ideal candidate is someone who can provide organizational analysis, strategy, and development excellence.

This position is a one-year contract with the opportunity to renew on an annual basis.  It also includes employee benefits!  If you think you’d be a good fit, we want to hear from you! 


Pay: $63.12/hr
Location: Vancouver, Washington (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY)

Responsibilities of Senior Business Analyst:
  • Provide support for the Telecom Governance Board: business capabilities development and implementation, monitoring deadlines and preparation of status updates to Board members, stakeholders, and sponsors, tracking communication traffic of Board email, and updating available information and files on the Board SharePoint site, and calendar and schedule maintenance, as needed.
  • Provide program support through logistical coordination, technical writing and interpretation, time management, reporting, and project management support.
  • Facilitate large teams in problem solving and improvement opportunities using industry methodologies (i.e. Kanban, GE Workout or like tools/models).
  • Perform organizational maturity analysis, assess gaps, and draft maturity roadmaps based on management goals and objectives.  (Examples; ITIL, P3M3, CMMI).
  • Research background and interview end-users, stakeholders, and other interested internal parties (customers) to gather and understand customer / end-user requirements, which may include software solutions and/or business process, procedure, or workflow development.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), other analysts, specialists, and teams to perform root cause analysis and lessons learned, as part of identifying opportunities to apply business or process improvement strategies.
  • Evaluate and assess business process change impacts and recommend appropriate change mitigation activities, and other organizational change management best practices.
  • Inventory and evaluate the information needs of the dept. business programs and functions. Evaluate business processes for gaps in maintaining information quality control and quality assurance. Recommend cost effective changes in processes and procedures to address such gaps.
  • Design and maintain performance metrics on the quality of key business information. Create, maintain, and periodically present executive dashboards of those performance metrics to management.
  • Organize, monitor, analyze, evaluate, and report on performance of data call artifacts collection and processes.

Requirements of Senior Business Analyst:
  • A degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, or a directly-related technical field is preferred.
    • With an applicable Bachelor degree, 8 years of experience is required.
    • With an applicable Associate degree, 10+ years of experience is required.
    • Without an applicable degree, 12+ years of experience is required.
  • Direct work experience and knowledge of business analysis and change management principles and methodologies with a solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Visio (flowcharts), MS Project, Access, and SharePoint is required.
  • Experience working with senior executive leaders, various management, and supervisory levels, as well as front line employees.
  • Must possess technical writing skills that can lead to process design and requirements gathering sessions.
  • Strong technical writing skills and the ability to present information in various forms such as textual, graphical and statistical.
  • Adept in pursuit of root cause analysis, missing information and data requirements and obtaining results.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.
  • Experience with project management, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with change management toolkits.
  • Previously experience in telecommunications or electric utility industry is preferred.
