OVERVIEW OF EMPLOYEE RELATIONS MANAGER
This role entails the administration of policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements related to employee and labor relations activities. The responsibilities of this role include providing consultation, facilitation, and guidance on bargaining unit employment issues, such as performance management, grievance resolution, and other labor/employee relations functions. The Employee Relations Manager also serves as a consultant to management for employee coaching, counseling, discipline, and collaborates with the Employee Labor Relations Director on investigations and terminations related to performance, code of conduct, and policy violations.

Salary: 90K-110K, DOE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate ability to engage with employees and situations by leading with a deep understanding of DEI and disability inclusion values and perspectives; an authentic commitment to continuously learn and challenge self-awareness and own bias.
- Extensive lead investigation experience with a variety of employee relations situations (union and non-union) conducted regularly.
- Dig into root causes of situations and translate into sustainable enterprise-wide solutions to continuously improve the employee experience and workplace environment.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance: coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Experience in a union environment and has Union bargaining/negotiations experience.
- Primary responsibilities include union activity and all employee relations investigations and maintaining a good relationship with local representatives and union stewards.
- Support roughly 500 out of their 800 employees are union.
- Currently 3-5 investigations a week, most investigations include: Harassment from cognitive behavioral comments, employees don’t have the appropriate social skills so there is a lot of coaching involved.
Employee and Labor Relations:
- Lead high-level union grievance negotiations and resolutions on behalf of Relay Resources.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance management-labor relations and union partnerships.
- Provide expert interpretation of collective bargaining agreements on discipline and grievance issues.
- Recommend disciplinary actions based on thorough investigations and legal compliance.
- Conduct internal and external investigations, preparing evidence for disciplinary actions and hearings.
- Advise management on the impact of labor negotiations and contractual agreements.
- Facilitate discussions and mediate between supervisors, employees, and union representatives.
Training and Retention:
- Offer coaching and counseling to management on sensitive labor issues.
- Develop and deliver training on labor relations topics, including CBA compliance and progressive discipline.
- Create tools to support policy compliance and enhance employee retention strategies.
Compliance:
- Ensure documentation meets ISSA Certification requirements.
- Maintain current employment posters and ensure compliance at all required sites.
HR Support:
- Complete detailed reports and documentation using HR systems.
- Represent Relay Resources in unemployment hearings as needed and work closely with the Claims Relations Specialist.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5 – 10 years’ experience at enterprise level, in high-level union negotiations, strategic labor relations management, investigations, leadership presence, DEI Development and Implementation.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred but not required.
- Experience working with disabled individuals preferred.
- Kronos software.
- Knowledge of research and investigative methods and practices.
- Knowledge of mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution methods and practices.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment, labor laws, rules, and regulations.
- Valid Driver’s License.
