Responsibilities
Financial Close (60% of your time)
- Review cash receipts, AP invoices, AR transactions for accuracy
- Generate contract invoices and prepare revenue accruals
- Review payroll batch and prepare payroll journal entries
- Prepare journal entries - prepaid, depreciation, expense allocation, and net asset release
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Support with the annual CPA and external funder audits
Financial Analysis and Reporting (35% of your time)
- Review and track unallowable/allowable expenses from contract agreements
- Analyze and release donor-restricted funds
- Prepare analysis and forecast reports of funder activities
- Perform analysis of vendors and prepare 1096/1099 forms
- Assist in the implementation of financial systems improvements and maintain internal controls
Participation in Shared Leadership (=5% of your time)
- Be a champion in the shaping and sustaining of a diverse, equitable, inclusive and just workplace, with a focus towards creating racial equity.
- Participate on cross-departmental teams or committees regarding organizational policies, processes and work environment
- Participate in Temporary Teams, Equity Team, Employee Resource Groups, and other teams
- Contribute individualized skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to help the agency reach its mission
Requirements
- Strong background in finance, accounting, and/or bookkeeping
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Core computer skills in word processing, database management and spreadsheets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity to correspond and work respectfully with diverse teams
- Evening and weekend availability may be required
- Working knowledge of various accounting systems including Financial Edge preferred
- Working knowledge of payroll systems, such as Paylocity, preferred
- Experience in non-profit accounting preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a motor vehicle during work hours that is covered by adequate car insurance
- Must pass a criminal history background back, employment verification, motor vehicle records check, and drug screen, that does not test for marijuana.
