5G Mobile Core & Networking Developer

Location: San Francisco, CA (Remote)

Your goal, as a technical expert is to help grow our client’s community of researchers (academic and commercial) who are using their open-source project as a platform for 5G and Edge research for experimentation and ultimately in commercial applications.

You’ll be responsible for helping community members when they need guidance with their deployments - an open source 5G edge cloud solution. You’ll become a go to resource regarding the necessary technologies.  You’ll help maintain the open-source project, with a focus on the interworking between the 5G components and service modules. You’ll become an expert resource to help others, along the way continually enhancing the source and documentation so that others can eventually do more-and-more complex deployments on their own.

By helping to grow the base of researchers (both academic and commercial), you’ll be building the pipeline of future contributors who will join the project and contribute back to the community. You’ll work with these contributors to help guide and assimilate their contributions, thus taking a leading role in helping to grow the ecosystem.

5G Mobile Core & Networking Developer Responsibilities:

• Work with community members in their efforts to deploy private 5G + platforms
• Skilled at deployment of 5G, 4G network functions on Kubernetes
• Writing helm charts for customized deployments for various scenarios
• Help maintain the open-source project, with a focus on the interworking between the 5G components and service modules
• Help guide the community with their contributions
• Help assimilate community contributions, thus taking a leading role in helping to grow the Open-Source ecosystem

5G Mobile Core & Networking Developer Requirements:

• Mobile: 4g and 5G Mobile Core, UPF
• Tools/Technologies: wireshark, openapi
• Networking: TCP/IP networking, SCTP, Load balancing
• Linux Networking: DPDK applications, SRIOV interfaces, kernel tunneling.
• Cloud technologies: Kubernetes, containers
• Languages: Golang, Python, C, C++, Java, bash
• Education: BS Computer Science and 4 years relevant experience, or 10 years relevant experience
• Mobile RAN or Open RAN experience preferred
