OVERVIEW OF SENIOR ACCOUNTANT ROLE
The Senior Accountant role will be responsible for a wide variety of accounting duties, including, but not limited to, daily banking transactions, responsibility for general ledger, monthly account reconciliations, and all annual federal and state tax returns. Our ideal candidate would have experience within nonprofit accounting, fund accounting experience, and would have knowledge/understanding of investments.
After an initial training period of approximately six months, this position may be assessed as having an option to work remotely one day per week. In-office work may be required five days per week during peak seasons.

Compensation:
- SALARY: $76K – $90K DOE.
- Work week hours estimated to be 37.5hrs. / week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting Responsibilities - Percentage of Time: 60%
- Maintain OCF’s general ledger, including monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and expense accounts.
- Review monthly reconciliations of multiple investment pools and post investment return allocations to all funds.
- Review reconciliations of private equity investment accounts and monitor quarterly statements.
- Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and post adjustments to the general ledger as necessary.
- Verify that funds with special allocations are being invested appropriately and that the terms of the fund agreements are being followed.
- Develop and oversee special financial reporting and participate in ad hoc business analysis and process improvement projects.
- Provide backup support for other Finance and Fund Services staff members as required.
- Prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax returns for OCF and its supporting organizations.
- In collaboration with the Controller, prepare annual federal and state tax returns for OCF and its supporting organizations.
- Assist in the review of trust financial statements and tax returns.
- Stay informed of accounting and tax issues related to nonprofits and community foundations.
- Prepare select audit work papers in coordination with the Controller; ensure timely and accurate preparation of OCF draft annual financial statements.
- Document accounting processes via written scripts, updating as necessary, and initiating process improvement projects as needed.
- Serve as primary resource for coordinating financial database training, resolving database issues, and determining priorities for database enhancements.
- Serve as backup to Controller for treasury management and cash management functions.
- Review and distribute monthly budget reports and serve as a resource for budget questions from other departments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited four-year institution.
- CPA preferred.
- 7+ years solid knowledge of accounting functions, progressively responsible accounting, finance, or related experience.
- Fund accounting experience is a plus.
- Nonprofit tax return preparation and compliance experience preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills: ability to convey information clearly and effectively, especially to those without a financial background.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, and experience working in a network environment with an integrated database.
- Proficient in problem solving, analysis and uses appropriate level of judgment.
- Strong organizational skills: detail-oriented and accurate.
- Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks efficiently, accurately, and timely.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines; ability to quickly shift priorities and adapt to change.
- Able to work extra hours as needed due to the cyclical nature of work.
