Instructional Systems Specialist
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for an Instructional Systems Specialist for their Vancouver, Washington location. In this role you will provide you will help design and coordinate training programs for electrical apprentices, crafts trainees, non-electrical craft apprentices, and fully qualified journeymen across various disciplines. You'll play a key part in ensuring that present, future, and continuing education training needs are met for a skilled workforce responsible for high-voltage electrical systems. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on the development of essential skills in the field.

Pay Range: $30.00 – 35.80, DOE

Key Responsibilities for Instructional Systems Specialist:
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to access sensitive information, including technical systems and diagrams, for developing courses using Instructional System Design (ISD) processes.
- Convert existing technical and safety content into Web-Based Training (WBT) using Toolbook, Adobe Captivate, and other relevant software.
- Develop quizzes and tests in WBT formats, ensuring compatibility with HRMIS through HTML encoding, and record/report scores.
- Troubleshoot and update WBT courses as needed, working with IT for system updates and enhancements.
- Record voiceovers for courses following written scripts and use a Digital Video Camera to create training videos. Edit and convert VHS content to digital formats for WBT integration using Adobe Premier. Conduct SME interviews to transcribe expertise into course material.
- Maintain and develop HTML/SharePoint pages, including creating forms, workflows, and site updates using Nintex and InfoPath.
- Capture and edit images, graphics, and blueprints for course content using SnagIt, Adobe Photoshop, and Visio, while incorporating animated elements via Adobe Flash.
- Stay current on adult education methods and presentation design best practices.
- Manage documents and records in compliance with Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance standards, ensuring accuracy for auditing purposes.
Requirements/Qualification for Instructional Systems Specialist:
- Bachelor’s degree in educational design, education training & development, or a related field is desirable.
- 1 year of experience as an Instructional System Development (ISD) Designer, Training Specialist, or Course Developer required.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft software such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Word.
- Proficiency with SharePoint sufficient to create and maintain content, sites, pages, links, and InfoPaths, and to assist with maintenance (working with IT) is required.
- Proficiency with Adobe software development products: Flash, Audition, Premiere Pro, Bridge, Standard, In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator is required.
- Experience with and working knowledge of the following programs is required: Toolbook, Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, Basic HTML script, SnagIt, Visio Pro, MS InfoPath, Nintex
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Exceptional grammar and proofreading skills.
