Enterprise Architect
Our client, a local distribution company that currently provides natural gas service to approximately two million people in Oregon and Southwest Washington, is looking for a skilled Enterprise Architect for their Portland, Oregon location. As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing IT infrastructure solutions in a hybrid on-premises data center and Azure Cloud environment. You will also provide technical leadership and guidance to the IT Infrastructure team and other stakeholders on best practices, standards, and architectures for IT infrastructure systems, computer networks, and cloud services. You will collaborate with other Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and Developers to ensure the IT infrastructure solutions are aligned with the enterprise architecture vision and principles.

Key Responsibilities for Enterprise Architect:
- Develop, document, and communicate the technology strategy direction on hosting decisions on data center, co-location, and cloud hosting, partnering with key stakeholders.
- Define, document, and establish technology strategy for the IT infrastructure, technology reference architecture(s), roadmap, blueprints, policies and standards on virtualization of servers and desktops, network architectures, storage solutions, backup/recovery, logging and monitoring.
- Keep fresh with updates and maintain IT infrastructure strategy, reference architecture(s) roadmaps, blueprints, standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Define, design, and document IT infrastructure architectures for current and future state scenarios, considering scalability, performance, security, reliability, and availability.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging IT infrastructure technologies, tools, and vendors, and conduct proof of concepts and pilots.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for the IT infrastructure projects and initiatives, ensuring adherence to the IT infrastructure architectures and best practices.
- Conduct IT infrastructure assessments, gap analysis, and risk assessments, and provide mitigation strategies and solutions.
- Communicate and present IT infrastructure architectures and solutions to various stakeholders, including senior management, business users, and technical teams.
- Provide technical mentoring and coaching to the IT Infrastructure team and other IT staff.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in IT infrastructure, computer networks, and cloud services.
Requirements/Qualifications for Enterprise Architect:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure strategy (Data Center and Cloud Strategy, architecture (Data Center, Compute and Storage), design, development, and implementation, with at least 5 years in an Enterprise Architect role.
- Expert knowledge and experience in:
- IT infrastructure (Data Centers, Server Hardware, Hypervisors, Storage, Backup and Recovery, Active Directory DNS and all core Infrastructure Systems)
- Networks architecture (WAN, LAN, including Software Defined Networks)
- Cloud services (Azure cloud computing, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and security.)
- Strong knowledge and experience in enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and tools, such as TOGAF, Zachman, or ArchiMate preferred.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Solution Architecture, working with Application Subject Matter experts’ translation requirements into technical Solutions.
- Strong knowledge and experience in IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL, COBIT, or ISO 20000.
- Strong knowledge and experience in IT governance, compliance, and risk management, such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS, or NIST.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance conflicting requirements and trade-offs.
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Certifications in IT infrastructure, computer networks, or cloud services, such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, and/or Azure are preferred.
