HR Generalist – Manufacturing (ONSITE)
Our client, a wire fabrication manufacturer, is looking for an onsite HR Generalist to join their Portland, OR team! The reason for opening is the current HR Generalist is set to retire! The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll processing, benefits administration, workers compensation, human resources, and accounting duties. This multifaceted role will require attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Duration: 3 months, Contract to Hire!
Pay: $35.06 – $40.87/hr. DOE. ($75K – $85K)
Location: Portland, OR. (FULLY ONSITE)
Responsibilities of HR Generalist:
- Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis using ADP.
- Retrieve electronic timecards and punch clock data.
- Review and adjust electronic punches for accuracy.
- Ensure proper deductions (e.g., garnishments, cash borrowings) are recorded and make changes if necessary.
- Input payroll into the system, perform backups, and transmit payroll.
- Review returned payroll packet from ADP.
- Prepare checks for distribution to other locations.
- Update vacation schedule and prepare 401(k) reports.
- Input and update employee health records as needed.
- Prepare insurance billings for Accounts Payable processing.
- Act as a liaison for staff inquiries regarding benefits coverage.
- Assist with Open Enrollment and renewals of health benefits.
- Prepare journal entries for AP Specialist.
- Prepare Workers Compensation billings for all locations.
- Collaborate with Safety Manager and Operations Manager on lost time/wages, accommodation, etc.
- Utilize SAFE to set up spreadsheets and calculate workers’ compensation.
- Conduct end-of-year reconciliation.
- Coordinate company events such as the Annual Company Picnic and Holiday Party.
- Update employee policies and coordinate employee benefits.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints and policy violations.
- Coordinate Flex-Plan and 401(k) meetings.
- Manage hiring for all departments.
- Prepare expense reports and journal entries.
- Coordinate annual inventory at each location.
- Travel to different locations to assist with inventory in September and October.
- Process 1099s for Misc, Dividend, and Interest.
- Handle 401(k) match and ACA reporting (1095-C/1094-C).
Requirements of HR Generalist:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources. – Preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience in Human Resources and Payroll, spanning across multiple states: Oregon, Washington, and California.
- 3+ years’ proficiency with MS Office.
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with the ADP platform for payroll processing.
- Familiarity with Profit 21 ERP Software is advantageous; Any background with mainframe/ERP software is beneficial.
- Ability to adapt to a Manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to grease, dirt, manufacturing machinery, and a predominantly blue-collar workforce.
