Business Analyst 2 – Capital Programs (HYBRID)
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for a Business Analyst for their Vancouver, Washington location. This position will provide support for projects under the Transmission Engineering and Technical Services Programs by providing recommendations to business stakeholders and facilitating the gathering and analysis of information using standard tools and approaches to: help clarify business operations, functions, perform gap analysis, document/map the current and future states, identify solution alternatives, evaluate the alternatives, and define processes. This position will also assist in overall Compliance strategy, analysis, and development.
This organization provides services supporting capital programs that include project management, engineering, design, specifications, contract construction management, construction inspection, and commissioning services.
This position is a one-year renewable contract that includes employee benefits!
Pay Rate: $48.00/hr. – $51.00/hr. DOE.
Location: Vancouver, WA. (1.5 days/week onsite)
Key Responsibilities for Business Analyst:
- Support business stakeholders and facilitate the process of gathering and analyzing information using standard tools.
- Clarify business operations, functions, problems.
- Document/map the current and future state.
- Identify solution alternatives, evaluate the alternatives, and define procedures.
- Participate/assist in facilitating large teams in problem solving and identifying improvement opportunities using industry methodologies (i.e. Kanban, GE Workout or like tools/models).
- Perform organizational maturity analysis, assess gaps, and draft maturity roadmaps based on management goals and objectives.
- Identify data needs and partner with system experts to extract information to support analytics needed to enable informed decision-making, and visibility.
- Compile data from various queries and reports, provide analysis, and perform data manipulation as needed to support reporting/information requirements.
- Analyze data and draft solutions and/or alternative methods of proceeding for approval by managers and program leads.
- Summarize and present data in a non-technical fashion for various audiences.
- Provide analysis and support in the development, draft, and recommendation of tools for organizational alignment, strategic content, alignment of capabilities and work, and a roadmap for success.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), other analysts, specialists, and teams to perform root cause analysis and lessons learned, as part of identifying opportunities to apply business or process improvement strategies.
- Provide project support, including tracking project status and reporting; communicating project progress to sponsors; and coordinating project recordkeeping. Serve on cross-organizational teams, working with teams to meet established timelines and deliverables.
- Assist with design and maintenance of MSP Support SharePoint sites including lists, document libraries, calendars, and additional content.
- Provide input to program/project managers on schedules and plans with particular emphasis on analysis-related activities.
- Perform all analytical tasks related to a project, including requirements definition, validation, management, supporting documentation (i.e. process flows, user stories, use cases), and related testing.
- Participate in planning, facilitating and conducting working sessions to analyze and document/map current state processes and value streams, and future state processes and value streams.
Requirements for Business Analyst:
- A degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Computer Science, Organizational Development (or a closely related field) is preferred.
- 5-9 years of experience of business analysis, progressively more technical in nature, and include work-related experience as a business analyst, systems analyst, project manager, QA analyst or equivalent.
- Visio: Ability to create complex flowcharts.
- SharePoint: Ability to create lists, modify pages and familiarity with workflow.
