Electrical Engineering Tech 2 (Hybrid)
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for an Electrical Engineering Tech 2 for their Vancouver, WA location. This position will provide electrical engineering technician support for the Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) Engineering (TENR) organization. This position will provide confidential and professional services for a wide variety and large volume of project designs, drawings, communications, and associated / related documentation. Engineering technician services will be conducted following established policy, process, and practice, and will be provided to support Control Center (CC) or Substation work for Remedial Action Schemes (RAS) Engineering to which this position will report. This position will provide engineering technician expertise to assist project managers (PMs) and other engineering personnel to implement projects, support field maintenance crews, and other related engineering activities.
In addition, this Electrical Engineering Tech will assist in the draft and development of RAS Engineering design related tasks which may include developing RAS equipment drawings, drafting Western Electric Coordination Council (WECC) reports, Logic Diagrams, defining, documenting, and recommending equipment and material specifications; support the evaluation of new equipment, which may include develop new catalog ID, material requests (MRs), stocking levels; and develop / draft and recommend templates, standards, and guidance. The work of this position may also include drafting as-built drawings related to capital and expense projects completed on the transmission system. The work performed by this position will be primarily conducted in Vancouver, WA but there may be occasional, but rare, overnight travel to project field sites throughout the service territory.

Key Responsibilities for Electrical Engineering Tech 2:
- Assist in the maintenance of databases related to the production of electrical and electronic drawings and documents.
- Prepare engineering designs and technical requirements for the development, installation, and modification of facilities based on analysis of engineering and design requirements, project parameters, and technical information from subject matter experts (SMEs) and multiple sources (contractors, PM, etc).
- Draft and prepare RAS standard guides and templates for assigned projects.
- Participate in visits to field sites to support RAS project scoping and design, verify equipment configuration at sites, and document as-built records during project wrap up, as needed.
- Perform review of CAD and manually drafted drawings and other documents for drafting accuracy and completeness; provide feedback and/or make necessary corrections before review by senior engineers and technicians.
- Update and maintain attributes and metadata of Substation Engineering drawings and documents in ProjectWise.
- Assist with special projects in area of expertise. Draft and recommend related business rules and workflow processes; assist with documentation and implementation of new or changed business rules, procedures, and processes.
- Support design engineers and technicians within the group in the form of reports, consolidation papers, printing design packages, preparing drawing lists, coordinating release of work-in-process (WIP) designs, and other CAD or technician needs.
- Conduct routine review of existing design standards; update as needed using CAD software.
- Resolve conflicting or duplicate serial numbering on designs by researching to obtain accurate information and issue corrections as appropriate.
- As requested, provide on-going technical assistance to new and/or less experienced team members regarding established organizational procedures and guidelines, industry standards, advanced techniques, etc.
- Train new CAD Technicians and engineers in processes, procedures, practices, and standards; share knowledge of RAS Engineering.
- Participate on teams and individually to research and document existing inventory of RAS and related equipment; may include data entry and clean-up efforts and coordination with the local District Resource Specialist.
- Provide engineering technician expertise to support engineering design and field personnel in all aspects of project documentation.
- Draft designs from engineers’ idea notes and rough sketches utilizing sources such as electronic files, drawing stick files, and central records vault.
- Participate in the development and revision of RAS drawing templates and standards.
- Assist with various administrative duties, such as engineering record maintenance which includes obtain new drawing numbers, input drawing information into the organization’s CAD database at the various stages of the CAD process, and complete necessary forms to submit final drawings to central records.
- Perform sub-system user file management within CAD systems, such as plotting, printing, storage, retrieving, and returning drawings from ProjectWise.
- Update and maintain the As-Built file structure within ProjectWise; maneuver .pdf and .dgn files as requested.
- Prepare and draft detailed As-Built drawings via MicroStation CAD software.
- Manage submissions of As-Built drawings and documentation. Assist in mentoring team members in the As-Built process.
- Draft and prepare drawing lists and drawing packages for digital signature and distribution.
Requirements/Qualification for Electrical Engineering Tech 2:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, mathematics, computer science or a related field is preferred.
- 5 years of work experience is required with or without an applicable bachelor’s degree.
- Experience should include related work experience in a technical/engineering environment and should demonstrate increasing knowledge and responsibility.
- Proficiency in use of CAD software.
