Technical Accounting Analyst
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives on tackling complex technical projects? We’re seeking a Technical Accounting Consultant to support key initiatives for our client’s Accounting and Finance team. This project-based role will focus on high-impact assignments involving revenue recognition, purchase accounting, goodwill assessments, and other technical accounting matters over the coming months.
Type: Contract – 2-month Duration
Pay Range: $55.00 – 74.00, DOE
Location: Portland, Oregon – HYBRID – 2-days per week onsite
Responsibilities of the Technical Accounting Analyst:
- Perform ASC 606 revenue recognition analyses and draft supporting memos across multiple subsidiaries.
- Conduct goodwill impairment assessments and prepare related documentation.
- Prepare and update purchase price accounting (PPA) workbooks and document measurement-period adjustments.
- Review business contracts for accounting implications and identify necessary journal entries or disclosures.
- Research and document complex technical accounting issues, providing recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with Financial Reporting Analysts to ensure external disclosures comply with U.S. GAAP.
- Monitor emerging FASB and SEC guidance and support the annual external audit as a technical resource.
- Contribute to SOX-related internal control procedures, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
Qualifications of the Technical Accounting Analyst:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an active CPA license.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidation principles, and ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- Experience with business combinations, purchase accounting, and measurement-period adjustments.
- Proven ability to conduct technical research, draft clear memos, and communicate complex concepts effectively.
- Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail and strategic thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
- Familiarity with utility accounting, SEC reporting requirements, and ERP systems (SAP or similar) preferred.
