Membership Accounting Specialist (MAS) – Temporary
Our client, a leading regional healthcare organization serving members and communities across the Pacific Northwest, is looking for Membership Accounting Specialists to support their membership accounting team. In this role, you will maintain accurate member eligibility and enrollment information, perform billing and membership reconciliations, and provide customer service related to enrollment and plan changes. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with data and solving discrepancies in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Rate: $22/hr
Location: Portland, OR Onsite. Remote opportunities may also be available for select Medicare and BHS openings for candidates located in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho.
Contract Duration: 4 months
Key Responsibilities for Membership Accounting Specialist (MAS):
- Process daily member eligibility, enrollment, plan changes, PCP updates, and urgent adds.
- Perform member and group billing reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate member and enrollment data across multiple systems.
- Respond to questions regarding eligibility, enrollment, and plan changes.
- Review information across multiple systems and escalate discrepancies when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive member and employer information.
- Follow applicable state and federal eligibility requirements.
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Claims, Accounting, Sales, and other internal teams.
- Support additional projects and departmental needs as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications for Membership Accounting Specialist (MAS):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in data entry, customer service, enrollment, billing, reconciliation, or a fast-paced business environment preferred.
- Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
- Previous experience with Facets is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills.
- Ability to compare information across multiple systems and identify discrepancies.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, professional, and collaborative work style.
- Typing speed of 25 WPM and 10-key proficiency preferred.
- For remote positions, previous successful remote work experience and a private, quiet workspace are preferred.
- Remote candidates must have reliable hard-wired internet through cable, DSL, or fiber and be able to work with multiple spreadsheets and Microsoft Teams.
- Must be available during the busy October–December period, with little to no planned time off.
- Schedule may include evenings and occasional weekends based on business needs.
