Water Accounting Analyst 2
Our client, an energy supplier and community leader, is looking for a Water Accounting Analyst 2 for their Portland, OR location. In this role, you will support monthly financial close activities, prepare journal entries and reconciliations, and partner with water subsidiaries and financial reporting teams to ensure accurate, high-quality financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and an analytical, detail-oriented approach.
Pay Range: $45-$55 / Hour
Location: Portland, OR — Hybrid, 2–3 days/week in downtown Portland office
Contract Duration: 4+ month contract
Key Responsibilities for Water Accounting Analyst 2:
- Support the monthly financial close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Partner with water subsidiaries to support their monthly closing activities.
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and transactions.
- Perform internal control procedures and support SOX compliance.
- Apply technical accounting knowledge to business and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Financial Reporting and Consolidation teams.
- Participate in accounting projects and other ad hoc initiatives.
Requirements/Qualifications for Water Accounting Analyst 2:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 3+ years of applied accounting experience required.
- Strong knowledge and application of U.S. GAAP required.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Utility accounting experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience with SAP, QuickBooks, or other general ledger/financial systems preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand the broader business impact.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong ethical standards and professional judgment.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions.
