Our client, a local distribution company that currently provides natural gas service to approximately two million people in Oregon and Southwest Washington, is looking for a skilled and motivated SCADA Application Engineer for their Portland, Oregon location. In this position you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of gas management/control systems (HMI/SCADA and others) to enable safe monitoring and control of our client’s transmission and distribution systems,

Key Responsibilities for SCADA Applications Engineer:
- Provides application development, configuration, and maintenance of the main SCADA application (IFIX), J5application suite, alarm management applications, as well as its associated data polling applications and interfaces with field remote terminal units (RTUs) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Designs and programs custom .Net applications, HMI screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, and system interfaces.
- Maintains SCADA system data access and configuration tools.
- Troubleshoots problems and provides support to gas controllers with system issues.
- Works with various departments in IT and operations to support design and commissioning of telemetry sites.
- Develops and maintains system documentation including process maps, data flows, infrastructure diagrams, as well as installation and configuration procedures.
- Provides on-call (24-hour) systems support, on a rotating basis, with other Gas Management Systems team members.
- Supports Company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
Requirements/Qualifications for SCADA Applications Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or equivalent combination of related education/experience.
- 3+ years’ experience as a system analyst or controls system developer.
- Experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and commissioning applications and demonstrated problem solving skills using IT systems.
- Experience in architecting and developing solutions utilizing VB, C#, .Net, python, and SQL is preferred.
- Experience with SQL server.
- Proficiency with Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Version Control Software (GIT, VSS, Subversion, etc.).
- Experience reading Schematics and P&ID preferred
- Demonstrated ability to be decisive with strong reasoning, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex problems and issues in a concise manner to many different audiences (customers, peers, and upper management).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and effectiveness working independently and on small teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- ITIL Foundations certified or must successfully complete within 90 days of hire date.
- Experience in supporting or working in a control room environment is preferred.
- Experience with Alarm Management preferred.
- Experience in computer programming, scripting and application development is preferred.
- Experience with Eclipse and BIRT is preferred.
- Strong change management and control systems security experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Natural Gas business is preferred.
- Subject to random drug testing.
