Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Developer & Manager
Our client, an Oregon-based nonprofit organization, is seeking a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Developer & Manager to strengthen its foundation of clear, accessible, and consistent operating procedures across diverse business lines. This position blends process design, technical writing, and project management to ensure that all employees—particularly those with disabilities—have inclusive and easy-to-understand guidance to perform their work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry and contract standards.
Employment Type: Direct Hire!
Location: Portland, Oregon – HYBRID – 3-days per week onsite
Salary: $80k - $89k. DOE
Key Responsibilities of the SOP Developer & Manager:

Interview employees, supervisors, and subject-matter experts to capture existing workflows and best practices.

Develop clear, plain-language SOPs that support employees with diverse learning styles.

Identify gaps in current processes and design new SOPs as needed.

Partner cross-functionally to prioritize SOP projects and align with organizational goals.

Create tools, templates, and checklists that make SOPs easy to follow in real-world settings.

Collaborate with HR, Training, and Operations teams to roll out SOPs through onboarding and refresher training.

Gather feedback from staff to continuously improve SOP usability and accessibility.

Ensure SOPs meet all state and federal contract requirements (e.g., Oregon Forward, AbilityOne, FAR, CMMC).

Align documentation with existing quality assurance standards and compliance practices.

Maintain a review cycle to keep SOPs current with evolving regulations and operational updates.

Act as a bridge between leadership and frontline teams to co-create inclusive, effective processes.

Embed accessibility and equity principles into every SOP developed.

Support a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Experience in service-based industries such as janitorial, warehousing, assembly, or building services (preferred).
- Knowledge of disability inclusion practices or Universal Design for Learning (UDL) (preferred).
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as Oregon Forward, AbilityOne, CMMC, or ISO (preferred).
- Experience with tools such as SharePoint, PowerBI, or document management systems (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Technical Writing, Organizational Development, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in process documentation, technical writing, or operations management.
- Strong interviewing and facilitation skills across diverse staff groups.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to create clear, plain-language documentation.
- Proven organizational and project management abilities with a focus on process improvement.???????
