Washington County Chamber of Commerce: President & Chief Executive Officer
Job Location: This is a fully on-site position based in Hillsboro, Oregon. Candidates must currently reside in, or be willing to relocate to, Washington County, Oregon. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.

Compensation: $115,000 - $125,000 base annually along with an incentive-based bonus package
Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage; mileage reimbursement; Simple IRA with 3% match

Through strategic partnerships, strong public policy engagement, and relevant member programs, the Chamber supports business growth and economic vitality across one of Oregon’s most dynamic and diverse counties. As a 501(c)(6) membership-based organization, the Chamber relies on member dues and active volunteer engagement to achieve its mission.

OVERVIEW OF THE PRESIDENT & CEO ROLE:
The President & CEO is the chief strategist and operational leader of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, reporting to the Board of Directors. This individual is responsible for driving the Chamber’s mission forward, enhancing value for members, cultivating relationships across sectors, and representing the voice of business throughout the region. The role demands a leader with vision, energy, and a commitment to advancing economic opportunity and community prosperity in Washington County.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strategic Direction – Lead the development and execution of a strategic vision that supports the Chamber’s long-term objectives and adapts to the evolving business landscape.
  • Board Relations – Serve as the primary conduit between the Board of Directors and Chamber staff, ensuring transparency, alignment, and support for governance decisions.
  • Policy Advocacy – Represent the Chamber’s positions with local, state, and federal stakeholders and advance a pro-business agenda.
  • Membership Growth & Engagement – Implement effective strategies for recruiting, retaining, and engaging members, ensuring consistent value delivery.
  • Sponsorship & Resource Development – Lead efforts to secure sponsorships and partnerships to fund Chamber programs and growth.
  • Economic Development Partnerships – Collaborate with community and regional partners to support job creation, workforce development, and economic vitality.
  • Organizational & Fiscal Management – Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with policies and best practices.
  • Program & Event Leadership – Oversee Chamber programming to ensure alignment with member needs and strategic goals.
  • Communications & Visibility – Serve as the public face of the organization and oversee all external communications and media strategy.
  • Team Leadership – Manage, mentor, and empower staff, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 5–6 years of executive-level experience in a chamber of commerce, business association, economic development association, or closely related business organization.
  • Strong grasp of economic development, business strategy, and public policy.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship-building, organizational leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in financial management and operational oversight.
  • Experience implementing strategic plans and tracking results.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: 
  • Graduate of WACE Academy and/or U.S. Chamber Institute
