Senior Accounting Analyst – HYBRID – Portland, OR 97204
Our local client, a well-established Pacific Northwest energy and infrastructure organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Analyst for a 4+ month contract opportunity! This role will be responsible for supporting key financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational accounting functions. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative accounting team while contributing to critical financial processes that support one of the region's most established utility organizations. You'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting while supporting monthly close, regulatory reporting, and utility accounting operations.
Contract Duration: 4+ Months
Location: Portland, OR. 97204
Hybrid Schedule: Candidates must be able to work onsite a minimum of 2 days per week
Pay Range: $59.00 - $73.00/hr. DOE

Key Responsibilities of a Sr. Accounting Analyst:
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and participate in month-end close activities
- Analyze financial results against budget and prior periods; provide meaningful variance analysis
- Perform account reconciliations and SOX control activities
- Support SEC financial statement disclosures
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Contribute to regulatory filings
- Manage monthly accounting for gas reserve investments and joint venture activities
- Support annual reserve studies and financial forecasting
- Prepare management and board reporting packages
- Collaborate cross-functionally on forecasting and reporting for the North Mist Gas Storage Facility
- Participate in special projects and continuous process improvements
Requirements of a Sr. Accounting Analyst:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Active CPA is preferred, but not a requirement
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a large, enterprise-level organization.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including experience with data extraction, analysis, and manipulation.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach
Preferred Qualifications:
- Utility industry experience
- SAP is highly desired; will accept other enterprise financial systems
- BlackLine reconciliation software
- SEC reporting experience
- SOX compliance experience
