OVERVIEW OF THE SALES DIRECTOR
Motus Recruiting and Staffing is proud to partner with Relay Resources in the search for a Sales Director. This is a key leadership opportunity for an accomplished sales professional who is equally motivated by business growth and meaningful impact. The Sales Director will lead Relay’s revenue growth strategy across its three social enterprises: Building Solutions, Supply Chain Solutions, and Document Solutions. This leader will own the overall sales strategy, pipeline, forecasting, performance metrics, and revenue growth while coaching and developing a team of Account Managers.
At Relay, revenue growth has a larger purpose. The Sales Director will help translate new business opportunities into meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, ensuring Relay’s mission remains at the center of its growth strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strategic Sales Leadership
- Develop and execute a research-backed sales strategy aligned with organizational goals, operational capabilities, and market opportunities.
- Establish sales objectives and growth strategies across Building Solutions, Supply Chain Solutions, and Document Solutions.
- Build and strengthen the sales pipeline while identifying opportunities across commercial, federal, state, local government, and mission-aligned markets.
- Evaluate market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities to support sustainable growth.
- Lead, coach, and mentor Relay’s sales team while fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Establish clear performance expectations, KPIs, sales goals, and professional development plans.
- Lead regular sales meetings and provide ongoing coaching, training, and resources.
- Develop sales processes and incentive strategies that support revenue growth and Relay’s disability-inclusive mission.
- Oversee pipeline activity, forecasting, dashboards, KPIs, CRM reporting, and overall sales performance.
- Use data-driven insights to evaluate results, refine sales strategies, and provide leadership visibility into pipeline health and revenue forecasts.
- Understand sales and financial performance, including pricing, margins, and revenue opportunities.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with customers, strategic partners, government agencies, and industry leaders.
- Develop long-term partnerships that create mutual value while advancing Relay’s mission.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by identifying customer needs and developing solutions aligned with Relay’s capabilities.
- Represent Relay at industry events, conferences, networking functions, and prospective partner meetings.
- Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Contracts, Social Enterprise leadership, and shared-services teams to bring new business opportunities to life.
- Ensure sales strategies and customer commitments align with operational capabilities, financial objectives, pricing, and service delivery.
- Translate new contracts into operational requirements and work plans while supporting successful implementation and long-term customer relationships.
- Lead complex contract negotiations that support sustainable growth and mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align pricing, compliance, risk, and contractual obligations with organizational objectives.
- Support the successful execution and renewal of strategic customer agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Requirements:
- Minimum 15+ years of progressive business development, sales, or strategic partnership experience, with substantial experience in service-based industries.
- Previous Sales Manager, Sales Director, or comparable leadership experience with meaningful people-management responsibility.
- Demonstrated success managing sales pipelines, forecasts, KPIs, dashboards, revenue targets, and team accountability.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop high-performing sales teams.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including experience partnering with Operations and Finance on pricing, margins, and customer value.
- Experience negotiating complex contracts and translating organizational goals into actionable sales and business development strategies.
- Strong executive-level relationship management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience with CRM and project management tools such as Salesforce and Asana.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally, regionally, and outside of Oregon as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience selling service-based B2B solutions, particularly within janitorial/facilities services, supply chain, or document solutions.
- Experience in a mission-driven, nonprofit, disability-inclusive, or social enterprise environment.
- Experience selling to commercial, federal, state, or local government customers.
- Familiarity with procurement platforms such as GovSpend, OregonBuys, or SAM.gov.
- Demonstrated success leading teams through structured sales processes and accountability practices.
