CAD Technician (Hybrid)
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for a CAD Technician for their Vancouver, Washington location. In this role you will provide support to line engineering by performing CAD drafting and ProjectWise documentation maintenance of overhead conductor, fiber-optic cables, ground wire, and associated hardware.

Key Responsibilities for CAD Technician:
• Maintain and operate databases (including ProjectWise and SharePoint) and other electronic and paper systems to store, index, track, and attribute engineering drawings.
• Modify design drawings, using Excel, MicroStation and SolidEdge.
• Convert historical documents to CAD format using MicroStation and SolidEdge.
• Provide technical support related to transmission line design, components, assemblies and systems to design engineers, other engineering groups, project managers and other technicians.
• Work with technical leads to develop, prepare, revise, and distribute design drawings and engineering technical documents and databases to support transmission line, fiber optic, and wireless projects or other assigned work on various computer platforms including MicroStation, SolidEdge, and ProjectWise.
• Publish approved drawings and provide document control of the Transmission Line Design drawings.
• Update and maintain existing hard copy design drawings in the Transmission Engineering files.
• Obtain drawing and/or design files requested by design engineers as needed to complete assigned work.
• Assist technical leads with the development of company-wide Transmission Line Design drafting standards.
• Aid other design groups requesting TELC drawings, documents, or reports.
• Communicate both orally and in writing through reports, correspondence, briefings, presentations, and other media to plan, coordinate or advise on work efforts or to resolve operating problems.
• Understand and adhere to all organization established policies, processes, procedures, and standards.
• Schedule and meet timelines and milestones, providing timely status updates.
• Mark documents and maintain filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements.
Requirements/Qualification for CAD Technician:
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Drafting, Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
• 1 year of directly related work experience is required.
• Experience must be consistent with the specific requirements of engineering, computer science or a related field.
• Knowledge of engineering drafting practices.
• At least six (6) months of engineering technician CAD experience is required.
• Ability to read, understand, and analyze engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams.
• Ability to use computer technology in the performance of assigned engineering technician work is required.
• Experience using CAD software to create engineering drawings, preferably MicroStation, Excel, and/or SolidEdge
