Inventory Specialist – Automotive/Truck/Parts
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental stewardship, is looking for an Inventory Specialist for their Vancouver, Washington location. In this role, you will support fleet operations by identifying, sourcing, receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking vehicle and equipment parts, materials, tools, and supplies. You will also provide hands-on support with inventory management, local vendor pickups, parts research, and customer service to help ensure fleet maintenance teams have the materials and equipment needed to operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities for Inventory Specialist:
- Support parts and material needs for a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment, including electric vehicles, construction equipment, line trucks, and aerial devices.
- Research and source OEM and aftermarket parts using VINs, serial numbers, equipment information, and other available resources.
- Coordinate with mechanics, vendors, and suppliers to place and track orders, resolve delays, process returns and credits, and manage warranty and core-return items.
- Receive, inspect, verify, stage, organize, and maintain incoming parts, materials, tools, and equipment while identifying shortages or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and an organized, labeled, secure, and safe stockroom environment.
- Issue parts and materials to internal customers and provide responsive customer service regarding parts availability, orders, and requests.
- Perform data entry, inventory tracking, parts research, and related administrative activities to maintain accurate records.
- Pick up parts and materials from local vendors, manufacturers, warehouses, and retail locations as needed.
- Pick up and deliver fleet vehicles between internal locations and external vendors for service, maintenance, or equipment installation.
- Assist with annual and periodic inventory activities at maintenance locations throughout the service area.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve inventory, ordering, and parts management processes.
Requirements for Inventory Specialist:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Inventory Management, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 6+ months of supply chain/logistics experience with an applicable bachelor’s degree, 2+ years with an applicable associate’s degree, or 4+ years of experience without an applicable degree.
- 3+ years of automotive warehouse or fleet parts experience, including OEM and aftermarket parts identification, sourcing, and inventory support.
- Experience researching parts using VINs, serial numbers, electronic parts catalogs, and equipment information.
- Experience supporting fleet maintenance operations, including vendor coordination, parts ordering, inventory systems, and direct customer or mechanic support.
- Knowledge of shop safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience supporting fleet maintenance organizations, automotive or heavy-duty truck dealerships, construction or agricultural equipment, utility fleets, or municipal/public fleets.
- Experience providing direct parts support to mechanics or maintenance technicians.
- Experience with Asset Suite or another Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
