Compensation: $190,000–$205,000 annually

OVERVIEW OF THE VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS ROLE
Direct Reports: Executive Directors and other designated agency leaders
The Vice President of Operations – Community-Based Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across assigned Nexus agencies and programs. Working closely with Executive Directors and senior leadership, the VP will ensure strong operational, financial, clinical, quality, and service-delivery outcomes.
This leader will supervise, coach, and develop Executive Directors while maintaining a strong understanding of agency programs, operations, staffing, financial performance, and key performance measures.
The VP will translate enterprise strategy into actionable plans, strengthen operations, improve performance, support organizational growth, manage risk, and ensure services remain aligned with Nexus Family Healing’s mission and standards.
The successful candidate will bring significant leadership experience in mental health, behavioral health, healthcare, or human services, including direct experience with both community-based and youth residential programs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Executive Leadership & Operational Excellence

Provide leadership and oversight to Executive Directors and agency leadership teams across multiple service lines.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture aligned with Nexus values.

Drive accountability for operational, financial, strategic, and service delivery outcomes.

Develop leadership talent through coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
Strategic Planning & Business Performance

Partner with organizational leaders to develop and execute strategic plans that advance Nexus's mission and goals.

Oversee financial performance, including budget development, revenue growth, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

Support organizational growth initiatives, new program development, service expansion, and strategic partnerships.

Collaborate across departments to implement system-wide initiatives and best practices.
Risk Management, Compliance & Quality

Ensure agencies meet licensing, accreditation, regulatory, contractual, and grant requirements.

Monitor performance through data-driven reporting and continuous improvement practices focused on quality, safety, employee experience, and client outcomes.

Partner with agency leaders to identify, mitigate, and manage operational and organizational risks.
Community Engagement & Philanthropic Stewardship

Represent Nexus within communities, building and strengthening key stakeholder relationships and partnerships.

Support Executive Directors in board engagement, fundraising efforts, community advocacy, and organizational visibility.

Promote a culture of philanthropy, collaboration, and community impact across the organization.
Organizational Leadership

Lead and participate in enterprise-wide initiatives, special projects, and cross-functional efforts that support organizational success.

Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to Executive Directors, senior leadership, and Home Office teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or another clinical/human-services-related field.

Minimum of 10 years of experience working in organizations serving children, adolescents, and families.

Minimum of eight years of experience in mental health, behavioral health, or healthcare.

Minimum of five years in upper-management positions with demonstrated expertise in operational, program, and clinical management.

Minimum of three years of direct experience with community-based programs.

Minimum of three years of direct experience with youth residential programs.
-
Demonstrated experience supervising, coaching, and developing senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams.

Strong financial and operational management experience.
-
Knowledge of licensing, regulatory, accreditation, contractual, quality, and compliance requirements.

Ability to travel frequently.

Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable state and Nexus driving requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

Applicable licensure in a human-services or clinical field.

Business or leadership development certification.

10+ years of operational leadership experience in a mental health-related field.

Experience leading multiple programs, facilities, locations, or service lines.

Experience supervising Executive Directors or comparable senior leaders.

Experience with organizational growth, program development, service expansion, or operational transformation.

Experience supporting Boards, fundraising, community partnerships, or external stakeholders.
