Senior Financial Analyst
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst for their Vancouver, Washington location. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive financial excellence by managing and analyzing capital and expense reimbursable programs, delivering insightful financial reporting, and spearheading process improvement initiatives. Pay Range: $50.00 – 53.85, DOE
Location: Vancouver, Washington – HYBRID – 3-days onsite per 2-week pay period
Key Responsibilities for Senior Financial Analyst:
- Serve as the organization’s technical subject matter expert and primary point of contact for A-123 compliance and Reimbursable Program requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate updates to internal project analysis policies, processes, and procedures, including desk manuals, tip sheets, and training materials.
- Act as the technical lead for reporting and SharePoint requests, providing monthly financial statements and analysis for reimbursable and other capital/expense programs.
- Create monthly and quarterly financial forecasts for capital and expense projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with corporate reporting standards.
- Support Customer Service Engineers and Project Managers with data analysis, variance reviews, and ad hoc financial reporting related to their projects.
- Provide financial analysis and actionable recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders, addressing Transmission business issues.
- Develop management tools such as dashboards, PowerPoints, and spreadsheets to track and communicate financial progress and risk-related activities.
- Identify gaps in financial processes, recommend improvements, and lead process enhancement initiatives across the organization.
- Participate in cross-departmental development teams, offering technical expertise, guidance, and user testing for IT, Transmission, and Finance projects.
- Assist with troubleshooting issues in the Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) system, ensuring immediate communication of report failures to relevant stakeholders.
- Perform financial analysis aligned with FERC, GAAP, and A-123 guidelines, providing recommendations for capital project asset management, depreciation, and retirements.
- Execute monthly accruals, reversals, and re-accruals using established accounting guidelines, ensuring accurate tracking, and reporting of financial activities.
- Validate and maintain accurate financial records for audit purposes, addressing errors or discrepancies and monitoring corrective actions to completion.
- Develop and deliver financial training for analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders, creating training curricula and materials to enhance organizational knowledge of forecasting, variance analysis, and project workflows.
- Create visual representations of financial data, such as spreadsheets, graphs, and presentations, to support strategic decision-making and communicate results effectively.
Requirements/Qualification for Senior Financial Analyst:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Business Mathematics or a closely related technical field is highly preferred.
- 10 years of financial analysis experience in a fast-paced environment in an analytical capacity is required.
- 5+ years of experience in financial forecasting is required.
- 5+ years of working knowledge of automated data systems is required.
- 5+ years of experience running queries, generating reports to support management, troubleshooting and resolving issues in an automated environment.
- 5+ years of experience in researching data anomalies, evaluating information gathered (sometimes from multiple sources) and reconciling data conflicts.
- 5+ years of applying a diversified knowledge of analysis principles and practices.
- Verbal and written skills sufficient to provide ongoing training and updates to managers, stakeholders, and other customers.
- Skilled in report development utilizing Excel or other reporting tools to create high level charts, graphs, and dashboards is highly preferred.
