OVERVIEW OF CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
Motus Recruiting and Staffing is proud to partner with Relay Resources in the search for a dynamic Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This strategic and action-oriented leader will oversee people growth, training, and development for a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to advancing disability inclusion. As a key member of the leadership team, the CHRO will drive hiring, career development, and retention strategies, with a focus on empowering employees with disabilities. This role is pivotal in aligning HR initiatives with the organization’s vision for significant growth and impact in the years ahead.

Salary: 187K-217K, DOE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
People Growth, Training, and Development
- Spearhead HR strategies for hiring, managing, and retaining employees, with a focus on career development for employees with disabilities.
- Lead the Training & Development program in collaboration with program managers, supporting ongoing professional development, including monthly and peer coaching sessions for Supervisors and Managers.
Union Leadership
- Partner with unionized teams, particularly with SEIU-represented janitorial and floor care staff (550+ employees), ensuring positive union relations and ongoing collaboration.
- Act as a decision-maker with senior leadership on union-related matters, leveraging union literacy for effective, informed decisions.
- Maintain regular communication and relationship-building with SEIU through weekly meetings and team collaboration, as well as overseeing a smaller team represented by Liuna.
Strategic Vision and Planning
- Contribute to the organization’s strategic goal of scaling from $60 million to $100 million over the next four years, driving people and growth initiatives that align with this expansion.
- Guide inclusion and accessibility strategies with a visionary mindset, advocating for disability inclusion and broader diversity goals in hiring and employee development.
- Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives and ensure HR policies drive forward-thinking, balanced growth.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Visionary leadership with the ability to balance growth and operational complexities.
- A proactive approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
- Comfortable challenging ideas and balancing leadership perspectives with Chief Operations and Executive leadership.
- Familiarity with union structures and needs, including experience in unionized environments, with preferred experience interacting with SEIU and Liuna.
- Strong external profile as a recognized leader in HR, disability inclusion, or career development.
- Experience working in an organization with accessibility and disability inclusion as a priority, such as accessibility teams at large corporations or consulting roles focused on inclusion.
- Union experience or government background, especially with an interest in transitioning to mission-driven work.
- Proven experience building accessibility initiatives in Fortune 500 or disability-inclusive organizations.
