Computer Hardware & Software Support 1 (Onsite)
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for a Computer Hardware & Software Support 1 (onsite) position to work in the End User Asset Management (JNRA) organization within the IT Department, and directly supports the IT Asset Management Specialist. The JNRA team is responsible for coordination activities related to the acquisition of all computer hardware, software, and peripherals in the Office Automation asset plan. This position requires a candidate to have a strong working knowledge of computer systems and components as well as operating systems and applications software. Responsibilities include the warehousing, tracking, distribution, and recovery of hardware assets and software licenses, as well as administering the Agency’s mobile device program.

Key Responsibilities for Computer Hardware & Software Support 1:
Support the agency’s request and approval process, procurement management, life cycle management, redeployment, and disposal of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Obtain accurate data collection and maintenance of office automation asset records.
- Generate office automation asset tracking reports and records for planning and budgeting purposes.
- Assist in establishing, maintaining, and enforcing office automation asset management procedures and standards.
- Draft procedures for use by department level staff to maintain an office automation asset database or tool.
- Provide technical input and recommendations regarding IT equipment / software functionality and purchases.
- Meet support timelines, milestones, deliverables, and provide timely (weekly) status updates.
- Mark documents and maintain filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Share and disperse documents only to appropriate personnel (those with a Lawful Government Purpose (LGP) to know). Mark and maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures. Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.
Track and maintain a large volume of physical and computer network components from acquisition through disposal.
- Validate that components are stored safely, are accessible, and are separated and countable.
- Under the direction of the Organizational Property Management Officer (OPMO), act as the designated secondary Asset Center Representative (ACR)
- Provide technical information to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for asset acquisitions, vendor contracts, and systems maintenance.
- Request quotes for IT Hardware and other assets for presentation to the COR.
- Conduct research to verify new hardware / software compatibility with existing equipment prior to acquisition.
- Draft Material Requests (MR’s) in Asset Suite for approval by the COR.
- Maintain inventory control of designated IT equipment.
- Conduct inventory analysis based on past usage patterns.
- Analyze current inventory to validate there is adequate shelf stock.
- Work with the COR to acquire assets needed to maintain required stock levels.
- Maintain cellular devices through the Enterprise Business Portal and in coordination with Enterprise Business Managers.
- Track issued call phones with Sunflower and Mobile Asset Database programs (i.e., Excel).
- Order, activate, and suspend cell phone accounts through the Enterprise Portal.
- Coordinate, prepare, and repurpose phone hardware according to regulations.
Inspect and assess the working order of hardware for redistribution or disposal.
- Troubleshoot equipment to verify the integrity and functionality of the item.
- Coordinate hardware disposal efforts with the Investment Recovery Center (IRC).
Complete physical handling of computer hardware inventory (i.e.: moving, stacking, storing, and labeling boxes).
- Fulfill hardware requests from departments across the agency.
- Prepare items for shipping to/from the warehouse.
- Recommend shipping methods to facilitate timely arrival.
Requirements/Qualification for Computer Hardware & Software Support 1:
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly related technical field is preferred.
- 6 months of experience in Computer/Information Technology or a directly related field preferably providing computer hardware and/or software support is required.
- 2 years working knowledge of computer systems and components, operating systems, and applications software.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Knowledge of hardware and software lifecycle management.
