POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Executive Director/Co-Director provides leadership and guidance in all matters relating to the development and financial operations of CDE by: embodying a commitment to and behaviors that support and advance racial equity and collective liberation; providing accurate and timely financial reports to assist decision-making processes; implementing fundraising strategies; maintaining the integrity of internal control procedures designed to support clients, staff and associates; ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local regulations.
The Executive Director/Co-Director cultivates authentic relationships with partners, ensures equity is at the forefront of all initiatives, and inspires collective action that leads to lasting change.
The Executive Director/Co-Director of Development and Operations is part of a collective leadership model of CDE. Within this model, there are two Co-Directors: 1) Development and Operations and 2) Programs. Co-Directors work collectively with the CDE team to make decisions regarding the overall strategic vision, and direction of the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement an annual Development Funding Plan, ensuring fiscal sustainability through grant writing, corporate giving, and event management.
- Build and maintain relationships with public and private donors, guiding fundraising efforts based on financial cycles.
- Prepare and present financial reports, tracking funding progress and updating the board and team regularly.
- Oversee bookkeeping contractors, ensuring efficient financial operations and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements and annual budgets to support strategic decision-making.
- Establish and maintain internal financial controls, ensuring accurate records of revenues, expenses, and timely payments for licenses, permits, and taxes.
- Collaborate with the team to evaluate employee performance and support professional development goals.
SHARED DUTIES:
- Build and maintain strong relationships within the community.
- Ensure consistency in CDE’s branding and messaging across all marketing and outreach materials.
- Represent CDE at community and leadership events through networking and presentations.
- Maintain compliance with insurance policies, contracts, and legal agreements.
- Oversee event management and contribute to building CDE’s positive reputation.
- Attend meetings and events to strengthen relationships with the CDE Board and team.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- 5+ years of experience in nonprofit leadership, finance, operations, or development.
- A commitment to working in a collective leadership model and co-creating solutions.
- Proven skills in grantmaking, financial management, and donor cultivation.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, strategic planning, and vision-setting.
- Energy and passion for EDI, Social justice, environmental justice, stewardship, and reciprocity.
- Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Strong skills in analyzing and presenting complex data using spreadsheets and financial reports.
